LAL updates!

We’ve had a crazy productive, awesome month. Here are some highlights:

We launched the LikeALittle iPhone App! Download it for FREE in the App Store. Chat and flirt wherever you are on campus. You can also follow locations and get push notifications whenever someone near you posts! 

Location-based live-chat: Make friends and connect with the people near you! Share your location to see who is nearby and get notified of posts in your area. Location sharing can easily be turned on and off in your browser preferences. 

How chat works: Everyone is assigned a new random fruit name when talking with a new person. If you’ve already talked, they will show up in your Recent List. Green check marks mean the user is verified because they signed in with a .edu email for your school, and/or shared their location to be verified as on campus. If you don’t want to talk to a user for any reason, simply click Ignore. If a user is being inappropriate or abusive, click Ignore then Report them.

Anonymous Email Sharing of posts: Send your crush the message you wrote! Want to make sure that the person you’re writing about reads what you wrote? Know their email? Click “Share” under any post and we will send the person a completely anonymous email with a link to your post.

Featured Flirts Page! On the top menu, you will see a new “Featured” tab. That tab now includes a drop down menu of the amazing LAL Stories that you all share with us, and Featured Flirts from across all of our campuses. Read through them and enjoy!

Hangout Page: Interested in connecting beyond flirting? This is for you! Find people to hang out with, get and give advice, buy/sell things, and just generally hang out with the people nearby. Answer our Question of the Day & enjoy all kinds of platonically wonderful messages. Let us know if you want a Hangout wall for your school!

V-Day & How to Flirt Successfully on LAL

Dear LALers, 

Valentine’s Day is here and we all know what that means. It’s great if you’re dating the love of your life (which we hope y’all are!)…but if you’re single, the lack of chocolate, roses, or a romantic dinner is a bit tough to take. 

Many of us spend the majority of our lives hoping to meet our own Prince/Princess Charming. They’re the person that will sweep us off our feet, make us a better person, and hit all the points on our check list of what we’ve always wanted in a guy/girl. 

But what if we’ve already seen or even already know that person, and are struggling with making the first move? 

Well, that’s where we want to help. If you read through the amazing stories posted on the site, you know that students are already making real connections through LAL! So, in the spirit of having a happy, optimistic Valentine’s day regardless of your relationship status, we’re going to talk about how to successfully flirt on LAL and (hopefully!) find that perfect somebody.

The LAL Blog is Born.

Welcome to the much overdue… but better late than never… official blog of LAL. Since we started the site back in late October 2010, things have been growing like crazy! Like… Groupon-crazy… without the 80% off local pilates deal.  

We now have an LAL page in over 500 Universities, have facilitated over 1,000 real world connections (here’s a few: http://likealittle.com/about/testimonials), and are still rapidly expanding around the US and even beginning to go international.  We have a kickass team that has been working day and night since starting the site… we all live and work together in a little house with a brown picket fence (we will paint it white so it sounds a bit better when we get a moment) in Palo Alto…if anybody is ever in town, come check out our LAL “world headquarters ;-).”   

So, we are having fun!  And I hope you all have fun with the site too… in fact, most of work hours have gone into executing scientific studies proving that LAL is 21,382 times more fun than playing Farmville ever was.  

We have a bunch of cool ideas to try out and always like hearing about how we can make things better so never hesitate to say hi.  You can email (evan.reas@gmail.com), text or call me (740.972.6939) anytime (seriously… huge respect to the first person to text me at 3am with a great new feature idea).
